The world’s shipping fleet accounts for more than 94% of all global trade movements and yet the environmental pressures and quest for alternative fuels have obscured this fact. What is essential for the maritime industry is that it learns to work within this new environmental framework and still provide a reliable and dependable global supply chain. To achieve this we need to look at the financial and operational issues that six months into the IMO global sulphur cap are now coming to the fore.
