Accounting Officer
JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTING OFFICER
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for a variety of administrative and financial tasks. The Accountant reports directly to the Finance Director. Among duties to be followed are:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identifies areas for cost savings and works to implement solutions.
- Responsible for the monthly financial summary report, budgeting, and other related tasks.
- Prepares annual budget and monitors budget performance.
- Liaises with external auditors and other relevant parties.
- Maintaining accurate and complete financial records and participating in audits or reconciliations, as needed.
- Execution of bank payments, maintaining logbook and other bank administration matters.
- General bookkeeping duties.
- Filing of all accounting matters.
- Ensuring that all accounting processes align with current financial legislation.
- In charge of all annual notifications for registration, survey, insurance, and incorporation business.
- Assist operations department with all services (crew endorsements, ship registration, surveys, insurance, incorporation).
- Provide weekly business reporting via CRM.
- Ensures the organization’s compliance with GDPR and ISO standards.
- Handling of the front desk, receiving faxes, couriers, phone messages, assisting clients, suppliers in a proper manner. Assure that all documents leaving the office contain an Acknowledgement of Receipt letter.
- Filing of documents from all departments and following up on each department in case documents are missing.
- Coordinating surveys with the Marine Survey Department.
- Running errands including but not excluding, banks, mail, upper management, clients.
- Any other responsibilities might be assigned by the management.
REQUIREMENTS – SKILLS:
- Relevant background (bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field).
- Solid experience as accountant/bookkeeper (at least five years previous experience in relevant position).
- Proficiency with computers, especially bookkeeping software, and MS Office.
- Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with ability to communicate comfortably in a courteous and professional manner.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Able to work with minimum supervision and able to multitask.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Creative and self-motivated individual.
- Have a very strong team value work ethic and able to work within tight deadlines.
