Project Manager

Global Maritime Consultants Group (GMCG) is looking for an experienced and skilled project manager who can deliver assigned projects within meticulously planned scopes, budgets and time frames.

The role requires an excellent eye for detail, high levels of energy and superior communication skills to make you an indispensable link between our clients and our teams.

GMCG is a Global Marine and Offshore Oil & Gas consultancy services company with strong presence in Oil & Gas sector, Marine industry, Ports and Inland waterways having a global footprint with offices in 15 countries. We are specialized in technical consulting of Oil & Gas field development projects, including engineering, design, surveys. We also do feasibility studies and regulatory assessment studies for various clients. We have done Project Management services for Oil Field operators including Contract Management, Engineering Support, installation support, pre-commissioning and commissioning support etc.

Regardless of the project size or scope, GMCG utilise a 3-step approach, resulting in value added engineering and a safe, cost effective, and efficient project delivery.

Salary: Industry rates based on experience and previous employment

Purpose of the role:

As Project Manager stationed in Mumbai Office of GMCG and will be working with the Engineering / Projects division reporting to Deputy Director Offshore. The Candidate is required to perform the following duties and undertake the following responsibilities in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities for Project Manager:

Project Planning: The Project Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the overall project plan, including scope definition, schedule development, resource allocation, and budgeting. To ensure that the project objectives are clearly defined and that a detailed plan is in place to achieve those objectives.

Engineering Coordination: The Project Manager oversees and coordinates the engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle. This includes managing multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring proper communication and collaboration between different engineering disciplines, and resolving any technical issues or conflicts that may arise.

Technical Oversight: The Project Manager provides technical guidance and expertise to the project team. They review and approve engineering designs, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines. They may also participate in technical discussions, vendor selection, and procurement activities.

Project Execution: The Project Manager monitors the progress of engineering activities and ensures that they are executed according to the project plan. They track key performance indicators, identify potential risks or delays, and take corrective actions to keep the project on track. They work closely with other project stakeholders, such as construction, procurement, and operations teams, to ensure smooth project execution.

Quality Assurance: The Project Manager is responsible for maintaining quality standards throughout the engineering phase of the project. They establish quality control processes, conduct regular inspections and audits, and ensure that all engineering deliverables meet the required quality criteria. They may also participate in quality assurance reviews and coordinate with third-party inspection agencies, if necessary.

Change Management: As projects evolve, there may be changes in scope, design, or project

requirements. The Project Manager assesses the impact of changes and manages the change control process. They evaluate change requests, coordinate with relevant stakeholders, and ensure that changes are properly documented, approved, and implemented while minimizing the impact on project cost and schedule.

Stakeholder Management: The Project Manager serves as a primary point of contact for

engineering-related matters with internal and external stakeholders. They liaise with clients,

contractors, regulatory agencies, and other project team members to address their concerns, provide regular project updates, and maintain effective communication channels.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Safety and environmental considerations are crucial in the oil and gas industry. The Project Manager ensures that engineering activities adhere to applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations. They promote a culture of safety within the project team, identify and mitigate potential hazards, and implement appropriate safety measures throughout the project lifecycle.

Minimum Academic Background & Experience

  • B.E/ B. Tech or M.E. / M. Tech in Chemical/Mechanical/Structural
  • Relevant and recognised qualification with a minimum of 8 years relevant work offshore engineering experience.
  • Must be familiar with Regulatory Authorities/Codes and Standards, Offshore Platform Design Codes, Standards and acceptable Oil & Gas Industry Construction practices and procedures.
  • Medium to large scale offshore Projects, HSE, QA/QC, Hook-up, Commissioning, SIMOPS.
  • Nice to have experience with ONGC/ Saudi Aramco /any middle east client as Project Manager.
  • Excellent numerical and Microsoft Office skills.

Personal

  • Eye for detail, quality assurance and analytical working are paramount for this key role.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, coordinate and organise all operational tasks, requirements and administration of the stepped process of project preparation, audits, financials and close out.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for working with clients, project teams, offshore teams, subcontractors and suppliers as well as internal staff and contractors.
  • Ability to work effectively with all documentation in conjunction with others.
  • Ability to work on one’s own initiative and as part of a fast moving, dynamic team.
  • Ability to work under pressure, motivate and drive continuous improvement and new ways of working.
  • Be willing to travel in-country and overseas as may be required from time to time.
